The inaugural season for the Welch College cross country team was successful, although the men’s team consisted of two runners and the women’s team had one runner.

“Even though our numbers were low, since it was our first season, we did well in all the team meets we entered,” said Coach John Brummitt. “We are excited to see what our team will be able to do this year with our returnees and new runners.”

Coach John Brummitt begins his second season at the helm of the cross country program. The 2004 Welch College graduate earned his MBA from Tennessee Technological University in 2011. A Tennessee native from Elizabethton, he has run competitively since high school and founded Temple Builders Running Club. Since 2006, he has served as chief financial officer with the Free Will Baptist Board of Retirement. He married Ashley (Coker) in 2010.They are members of Donelson Free Will Baptist Church.
