The Department of Music

Apply Now!

A degree from the Department of Music will teach you how to use music to engage the church, the classroom, and the performance hall.

The Mission of the Department of Music

The Department of Music offers challenging technical training and instruction in music theory, history, arranging, conducting, and performance to the serious musician.

While at Welch, you will study alongside faculty members who have trained at some of the top programs and conservatories in the country. They teach effectively and mentor students intentionally. You will be skillfully prepared for whatever musical field you choose to enter. Welch College graduates are admitted to top seminaries and graduate schools, where they often receive advanced standing because of the depth of their undergraduate program and internships.

Not only will you have the chance to learn from the best professors, there are multiple performance opportunities on campus each year, including musicals and other recitals. The Nashville community also offers a wide variety of musical opportunities. Whether it is singing with the Nashville Chamber Chorus, opera, or just helping with the music ministry at a local church, you will be able to put what you are learning in the classroom to practice in real life scenarios.
